THE GIFT OF
PERCY’S PLACE

AN EXTRAORDINARY GIFT.
A LASTING LEGACY.
A HISTORIC MOMENT FOR MIRAMICHI.

Some gifts change lives. Others change communities forever.

October 16, 2026, was a day that will forever be remembered in the history of Percy’s Place Hospice and the Miramichi region.

As we celebrated our third anniversary, the Dr. Gerard and Judy Losier Family Foundation announced the extraordinary gift of Percy’s Place Hospice Facility and Percy’s Place Boutique to Percy’s Place Inc. completely debt-free!

This facility is one of only a handful of privately funded hospices in Canada.

In a deeply meaningful moment, Dr. Gerard Losier personally presented the keys to both properties to Brittany Sullivan, Chair of the Board of Directors of Percy’s Place Inc., symbolizing this historic gift to our community.

This remarkable announcement represents eight years of vision, dedication, and generosity, with a total financial commitment exceeding $11 MILLION.

This investment includes the original $5.5 million in construction capital costs, accumulated interest expenses, and ongoing operational support. This marks one of the largest private healthcare donations in Miramichi’s history and possibly New Brunswick.

A CELEBRATION TO REMEMBER

We were delighted to celebrate this extraordinary milestone with approximately 150 guests, including community members, our wonderful volunteers from Percy’s Place Hospice and Percy’s Place Boutique, dedicated staff members, and our Board of Directors.

We were especially honoured to welcome Andrea Paul from Natoaganeg First Nation (Eel Ground), who offered a beautiful blessing of the land, bringing a meaningful moment of reflection and gratitude to our celebration.

We were also grateful for the kind words shared by Mayor Veronique Arsenault, MLA Sam Johnson on behalf of Premier Susan Holt, MP Mike Dawson, and Brittany Sullivan, Chair of the Board of Directors of Percy’s Place Inc.

Since opening our doors on October 16, 2023, Percy’s Place has welcomed more than 450 residents, providing compassionate end-of-life care in a peaceful, home-like environment, at no cost to residents and their families.

Behind every resident is a family, a lifetime of memories, and loved ones whose journey was made a little easier because Percy’s Place was there when they needed it most.

A PHYSICIAN’S VISION. A LIFETIME OF COMPASSION.

For Dr. Gerard Losier, Percy’s Place represents a deeply personal commitment to palliative care.

“For 45 years, I have had the privilege of serving as a physician, and throughout my career, palliative care has always held a special place in my heart.

I have learned that while medicine cannot always cure, we can always provide comfort, preserve dignity, and ensure that patients and families feel supported during life’s most difficult moments.

When Judy and I envisioned Percy’s Place, named in honour of my father, Dr. Percy Losier, we wanted to create something meaningful and lasting for our community, where compassionate end-of-life care would be available to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances.

Our greatest hope is that Percy’s Place will continue to provide comfort and compassion for generations to come. That would be the most meaningful legacy we could ever leave.”

SECURING THE FUTURE OF PERCY’S PLACE

The extraordinary generosity of the Dr. Gerard and Judy Losier Family Foundation has made Percy’s Place Hospice possible and sustained its operations since opening.

This commitment to providing compassionate, dignified end-of-life care at no cost to our residents and their families continues through the generosity of the Losier Family Foundation, our community donors, local businesses, fundraising initiatives, and dedicated volunteers.

The remarkable gift of these debt-free properties represents a historic milestone and an enormous step toward securing the future of Percy’s Place.

Together, with the continued kindness and generosity of our community, we look forward to ensuring that Percy’s Place remains a place of comfort, compassion, and dignity for families in Miramichi and surrounding communities for generations to come.
