WOW! What can I say. There are no words to describe how amazing and caring it is.

We were blessed to have Dad admitted to Percy’s Place in January. There we were greeted with open arms and made to feel instantly welcome and comfortable.

Over the next month I witnessed true care and compassion. Dad was treated as if he was the only client there. He had the best of basic nursing care (bathing, positioning, skin care and medicating). But the staff also washed and cut his hair, trimmed his nails, kept him shaved, put on his favourite old TV shows and music, made special snacks and meals, and listened to his stories of days gone by. Every time a staff member came into his room he always greeted them with such a smile and twinkle in his eyes that I knew how special they were to him. My dad suffered with dementia and had no memory recall of the present time but he knew these people were special. He was also visited by Dr. Losier everyday to review his care and any concerns the family might have.

I have heard and read so many positive stories about Percy’s Place, but until I experienced it I couldn’t believe how truly wonderful it was. My elderly Mom went every day and was greeted with a hug and smile. They served her lunch and made her tea so she could stay the day. They did so many little things to make her feel special.

I am a retired hospital nurse and am still overwhelmed by the care and compassion I witnessed as so much of this has been lost in the healthcare system.

Percy’s Place has given our family a wonderful end of life experience.
